The Process
Reach out by phone or email — whichever feels easiest. I'll get back to you to arrange a time that works.
The first session is a chance to meet, talk about what's brought you here, and get a feel for whether working together feels right. There's no pressure or commitment.
Therapy looks different for everyone. We'll work at a pace that suits you, focusing on what matters most to you.
Based in Whangarei, I am a registered psychologist with over 10 years of experience working with individuals, children, and families. I offer a warm, collaborative approach to psychological therapy and assessment, tailored to meet the unique needs of each person I work with.
Background: I was born and raised in England, where my career began over 35 years ago working in residential care environments, supporting people from all walks of life — including those with intellectual disabilities, complex trauma, and mental health challenges. After relocating to Australia for 12 years, where I further developed my clinical skills and experience, I settled in New Zealand where I have continued to build on that foundation.
Growing up with Afro-Caribbean heritage, and having lived and worked across different countries and cultures, I have developed a deep appreciation of culturally responsive care — and a commitment to respecting each person's cultural background, individual needs and story.
Supporting people has always been at the core of who I am — both in my personal life and in my work. What I find most rewarding is seeing the positive changes people make when we work together on their journey.
Therapeutic approach: My practice draws on a range of evidence-based modalities including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) skills, and trauma-informed care. I tailor my approach to suit the individual needs and goals of each client.
Qualifications: I hold registration as a General Psychologist with the New Zealand Psychologists Board and uphold the professional and ethical standards of the New Zealand Psychological Society.
I hold a Bachelor of Psychology with Honours from the University of Central Queensland, Australia. I also hold certificates in Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT).
